Welcome to Achieva!

Achieva is your personal Smart Academic Planner, designed to help you organize your studies, track your progress, and achieve your academic goals. It runs entirely in your web browser, meaning your data stays private and on your device.

Key Features & How to Use

Dashboard Tab

The Dashboard provides a quick overview of your academic standing:

Current GPA / Grade Average: Displays your estimated academic performance. Switch grading systems in Settings.
Credits Enrolled: Total credits for all subjects you've added.
Active Tasks: Number of tasks that are not yet marked as completed.
Goals Achieved: Number of goals you've marked as completed.
Focus Study Timer: A built-in, offline-friendly Pomodoro focus timer with Study (25m), Short Break (5m), and Long Break (15m) cycles to help you study productively.
Upcoming Due Dates: Lists upcoming tasks and assessments to help you stay on top of deadlines.

Subjects Tab

This is where you manage your courses/modules:

Adding a Subject: Click the Add Subject button. Fill in details like Subject Name, Code, Credits, Instructor, and Semester. Credits are important for overall GPA calculation.
Managing Assessments: Click Add Assessment on a course card. Select type (Assignment, Test, Exam, quiz, etc.), weight, and score (if already graded).
What-If Grade Simulator: Click the What-If Simulator button on a course card. Drag the sliders for ungraded assessments to simulate potential grades and predict your final subject mark instantly!
Deleting a Subject: Click the Delete Subject button. This cascades to delete associated assessments, goals, and tasks automatically.

Schedule Tab

Manage your general tasks and view all upcoming deadlines:

Adding a General Task: Click Add General Task. Provide a Title, optionally link it to a Subject, set a Due Date, and assign a Priority (Low, Medium, High).
Unified Timeline: View tasks (orange border) and assessments (blue border) sorted by deadline.
Task Completion: Check off completed tasks directly from the checklist. Overdue items are highlighted in red automatically.

Goals Tab

Set and track your academic ambitions:

Adding a Goal: Click Add Goal. Set targets for overall GPA, subject marks, task completion, or personal development.
Target Tracking: Achieva dynamically calculates remaining average marks needed on pending assessments to achieve your targets, warning you in real-time if a target grade becomes mathematically impossible (>100% needed).

Report Tab

Generate a summary of your academic performance:

Compiles your academic transcripts. Includes overall performance averages and comprehensive individual subject assessment tables.
Click Print Report to compile a clean, printer-friendly page configuration.

Analytics Tab

Gain visual insight into your studies with live interactive Chart.js charts:

Subject Performance Profile: Compare your current subject marks against target grades.
Performance Trends: Observe your average scores progression across semesters.
Program Credits Progress: Visualize credits enrolled/completed relative to your target program credits.

Settings & Backups

Customize Achieva and prevent data loss:

Your Name: Set the name that will appear on generated academic reports.
Target Total Credits: Enter total credits needed to complete your degree or program.
Grading Scale: Choose between **US GPA (0.0 - 4.0)**, **South African NSC/CAPS Levels (L1 - L7)**, or **Percentages Only (0% - 100%)**.
Data Backups: Click **Export JSON Data** to download your profile as a backup. Use **Import JSON Data** to restore your data on any device or browser.

Data Management

Important: Achieva stores all your data directly in your web browser's Local Storage (under the key academiaTrackData_v2). This means:

Your data is private and local: It is not sent to any cloud server and remains on the device and browser you used.
No cloud sync: Data entered on one device won't automatically sync to another. Use the JSON backup tools to manually transfer profiles between devices.
Risk of data loss: Clearing your browser cache or site data will delete your planner information. **Create regular JSON backups using the Settings panel to safeguard your records!**

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is my GPA / Subject Grade calculated this way?: GPA is calculated by assigning standard scale points to the average percentage of graded portions of subjects, weighted by credits. When using CAPS level settings, grades map to South African Level descriptors (e.g. Level 7 is 80-100%).
How does the What-If Simulator affect my real data?: It doesn't! The What-If Simulator only updates estimated grades in a sandbox state inside your browser. Your real grades are never overwritten by simulator settings.
How does the Pomodoro focus alarm work offline?: The Pomodoro timer uses the Web Audio API to synthesize notification sound waves inside the browser, meaning the alarm will function perfectly even without internet access or loaded sound files.
